Responsible employee participation

As yet, the issue of employee participation is not widely known in Poland. However, the European Commission is currently emphasizing its significance, while the Polish Ministry of Economy is interested in promoting different forms of participation. That is why the Institute has endeavoured to conduct (together with partners from the majority of EU member states) two projects related to employee participation in profits of their companies (employee ownership, participation in profit): "Information and Communication Project: Promoting Employee Financial Participation in EU27" and "Financial Participation of Employees: Towards Initiatives in Social Dialog" concerning the employee participation in the public utility sector (the project is due to be completed in March 2012).

On September 22, 2011 the Institute organised a conference within the project "Information and Communication Project: Promoting Employee Financial Participation in EU27" This event took place at University Vistula in Warsaw and it was held under the auspices of the European Commission. The conference was entitled: "Responsible employee participation: The participation of employees in profit and management". During the conference, the results of studies on effective tax rates for participation-related instruments in Poland, Germany, France and Austria were presented for the first time in the EU. Additionally, a book by prof. Jens Lowitzsch "Financial participation in the social market economy of the EU" was being promoted in Poland for the first time. The book had been published by the Institute and the foreword had been written by the former President of the European Parliament, prof. Jerzy Buzek and by the Polish Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Waldemar Pawlak.
